Vive le Vin is Steph’s wine journal. This notice describes the information involved when you read this site, contact Steph, or subscribe to the newsletter.
Contacting Steph
The contact form collects your name, email address, and message. Messages are stored in Vive le Vin’s private inbox so Steph can read and respond to your inquiry. Submitting a message does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
To limit spam, the form also keeps a daily, hashed identifier derived from the connection’s IP address. The inbox does not store the raw IP address. Hosting providers may separately process technical request information.
The newsletter
Newsletter subscriptions are managed through Beehiiv. If you subscribe, your submitted email address is shared with Vive le Vin and Beehiiv to manage your subscription and deliver the newsletter. You can unsubscribe through the link in a newsletter or contact Steph for help.
The embedded signup form connects to Beehiiv when the embedded form loads. You can also visit the separate newsletter website. Beehiiv may process technical information and use cookies when you interact with its services; see Beehiiv’s privacy notice for its own practices.
Hosting and external content
Hosting services process technical request information, such as IP addresses and requested pages, to deliver and protect the site. Some stories include embedded Spotify players. Loading or interacting with external content can share technical information with its provider, whose own privacy practices apply.
Optional analytics
If you choose “Accept analytics,” Vive le Vin loads Google Analytics to understand how readers find and use the journal. Declining does not affect your ability to read the site. Before acceptance, this site does not load the Google Analytics tag or send analytics events to Google.
With permission, Google Analytics receives page paths and titles, the referring website’s origin, basic device/browser information, and events such as homepage-feature clicks, article reading time and scroll depth, links to other articles, use of journal search and filters, and newsletter-link clicks. The site strips query strings and fragments from reported page URLs, reports search use and result counts without the words typed, and does not send contact-form contents. Recognized Instagram links can identify Instagram as the referring channel. For links we have approved in advance, fixed campaign and post identifiers also help us understand which shared link brought a visit, without forwarding arbitrary link parameters.
Google may process technical connection information when your browser contacts its service. Analytics cookies help distinguish visits and sessions; this site configures them to expire after 180 days without refreshing their lifetime on each visit. It disables Google signals and advertising personalization and does not install a Meta advertising pixel. Google’s own processing is described in its privacy policy.
Your analytics choice is saved in this browser’s local storage for up to 180 days so the site can remember it. Use “Analytics choices” here or in the footer to change your choice. Declining after acceptance stops further site analytics and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site; it does not erase information already sent. Clearing browser storage or using a different browser may prompt you again. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page.
These choices apply to Vive le Vin’s analytics. Beehiiv, Spotify and other external services have their own settings and privacy practices.
